Aberdeen Highland Games and Bike Rides. A couple of days cycling after the games, but the possibility for some walks for those who wish to organize them. Walk suggestions: Burning Mountain. Glenbawn Dam. Muswellbrook Town Walk.

Arrive at Aberdeen & attend the Highland Games. (Entry Fee) O/N at a motel in Muswellbrook.

Adamstown to Stockton. Distance 50km. Map: Newcastle Cycleways. Classic route from Adamstown Station to the Foreshore cycling the two breakwaters (Nobbys and Stockton) and Carrington and then returning to Adamstown by a different route.

Meet: Adamstown Station departing 9.00am (if coming by train from the south the 8:12 from Morisset arrives 8.53am. If coming from Newcastle Interchange the 8.35 arrives at Adamstown at 8.44am). Bring morning tea and lunch (or chance it in either Stockton or along the foreshore). Book: Harwood

Rumbalara Reserve Grand Tour – Gosford. 12km. 300metres ascent/descent. njoy all of the interesting vegetation types and scenic views utilizing most of the walking trails this reserve has to offer. Some short steep sections and a few steps. Street directory or Central Coast Council produced reserve map. Meet: Morisset train (8.17am if on Saturday or 8.23am if on Wednesday) second last carriage upstairs. Leader will board at Wyong.  Book: Greg

Lemon Tree Circuit Walk (challenging). 14 km. 400m ascent. A pleasant Watagan walk up the ridge line to Handle Rd, a side trip to the fire tower site if there is time and the return via the Lemon Tree Yambo Link Trail. Car pool from Morisset. Book: Phil

Ash Island. 14km. Flat. Hunter Wetlands National Park, boardwalks & trails in a new(ish) national park.

Popran NP. 12km,5 hrs. Scrub bash to a rock overhang that has some interesting Aboriginal rock art. Make your way through the scrub to Mt Owen for some great views. Then it is all on track to Emerald Pool, visiting some Aboriginal rock carvings along the way. Return to vehicles by a different track. Bring morning tea and lunch. Meet 6.45 am at Edgeworth McDonalds OR 8 am at The Hub of Mangrove Mountain General Store, Wisemans Ferry Road, Central Mangrove Mountain. Book: Frank

Sydney Bike Ride. Easy mostly flat ride on mainly cycle paths approx. 35km. Train to Strathfield, then cycle from Strathfield train station to Parramatta. Then cycle around Parramatta Park taking in the history of the area. Return on the River Cat to Darling Harbour, and then a short ride to Central Station for return train home. Book: Marilyn

Paddle the North Arm of Hunter River to poke around islands and small creeks. Hopefully with incoming morning tide & outgoing afternoon tide. Putting kayaks in under the Stockton Bridge, northern side at boat ramp. 9am. Map: Newcastle Gregorys.

Tues Day 1. Drive to Mill Creek Campground. Afternoon walk to Devines Hill and Sheppard's Gully.

Wed Day 2. Walk to Group 6 and 10 to look for engravings. 

Thur Day3. Finches Line and Lower MacDonald Ridge. Convict 1828 built Rd with views over Hawkesbury River then onto lovely ridge          overlooking the MacDonald River .Rough track back to Rd .

Raymond Terrace to Medowie. Lovely ride, mostly on bike tracks and quiet country roads passing around Grahamstown Dam.

Approx. 40km, easy pace. Mostly flat. Meet at Riverside Park, Raymond Terrace. Book: Marilyn

Wetlands of Bicentennial Park (Sydney) - 10km circuit.

Walk from Concord West railway station to Bicentennial Park (part of Olympic Park) and Homebush Bay finishing back at Concord West station. Includes bushland, mangroves, water birds, harbour views and industrial heritage. Mostly flat shared cycleway with some detours. Bring morning tea and lunch. Optionally, coffee can be purchased at café for morning tea (take away).

This walk can be extended to 13km by adding in another loop.

GNW Congewai Trackhead to Barraba Trig and Beyond. Distance 13km.

Ascent/descent: 600m. Map: GNW, Quarrobolong. A lovely bush hike from Congewai Road up a moderately steep climb to Barraba Trig and then wonderful undercliff area and spectacular views of the Congewai Valley.

Mount Kuring-gai to Berowra Station. 10 km, 550 metres ascent and descent

(some steep climbs). A section of the Great North Walk that explores 3 valleys with some nice sandstone overhangs.

Walk from Rhodes railway station along the southern shore of the Parramatta River to Cabarita wharf, ferry to Meadowbank wharf, then walk to Meadowbank railway station. Spit to the Zoo. Train to Wynyard, then bus to the Spit Bridge. Walk Chinaman's Beach, Balmoral Beach, around a part of Middle Head, then via Chowder Bay and Balls Head to the Zoo wharf.  Catch the ferry back to Circular Quay. Fantastic Harbour views, quite a few stairs. 13km.
